Tallgrass - Iowa Shares Benefit

Tallgrass features gravel road vocals, quick-picked guitar, and a rhythm section with stomping ground sound. This three piece band, based out of Iowa City, plays a mix of woodsy country blues, rock, and soul with a world beat twist. Weaving stories into songs that both soothe and stir, Tallgrass has a full, charged sound that surprisingly flows from only three people on stage. Their debut album, "God, Sin, Whiskey, and Women", was released in the summer of 2012 and recorded at The Englert Theatre.

This performance will benefit Iowa Shares, of which The Englert Theatre is a member. Iowa Shares is a coalition of social change, environmental and cultural nonprofit organizations throughout the state of Iowa who make a direct impact on our communities through research, education, advocacy and direct service. This performance celebrates yet another successful fall in which Iowa Shares participated in payroll deduction campaigns with over 25 businesses and public agencies across the state of Iowa. With the support of these campaigns Iowa Shares is able raise much needed funds for our member nonprofits.

This event is part of the Intimate at the Englert Series presented by Hands Jewelers, with additional support from Little Village & Todd Wali Design. Intimate events feature both the audience and the performers onstage together: the connection between artist and audience will be direct and electrifying.
