Job Description
The Box Office Manager leads The Englert’s primary public-facing team, serving as a key representative of the organization. This role is central to shaping positive patron experiences through excellent customer service and efficient ticketing operations. In addition to overseeing day-to-day and event box office functions, the Box Office Manager supports broader organizational operations through office management responsibilities and collaboration with the Events team and other departments.
Schedule
Full-time, exempt position. Primarily weekday business hours, with some evenings/weekends required for events.
Core Responsibilities
Box Office Leadership
- Provide leadership focused on excellent customer service and continuous improvement.
- Hire, train, schedule, and supervise box office staff.
- Develop efficient processes to support presales, on-sales, and day-of-event operations.
- Lead ticket builds and manage ticketing platforms.
- Ensure a clean and welcoming box office environment.
- Handle ticketing reports, staff scheduling, performance reviews, and refund processing.
- Coordinate agent ticketing, complimentary tickets, and ticket requests.
- Represent the patron’s voice in ticketing-related decisions.
Daily Box Office Operations
- Process ticket sales in person and by phone.
- Support membership cross-selling (Friends of The Englert program).
- Prepare will-call, print/mail tickets, and conduct online sales audits.
- Maintain ticketing supplies, deposits, and accurate records.
- Oversee daily opening/closing of box office and public-facing spaces.
Office Management
- Manage general inbox and incoming calls, redirecting inquiries as needed.
- Support building access and coordinate with maintenance and custodial vendors.
- Assist with financial tracking, chargebacks, and weekly bank deposits.
- Support development and marketing teams with customer communication and mailings.
- Greet and assist administrative visitors
Events Support
- Lead volunteer program coordination (scheduling, training, recognition).
- Conduct venue tours for rental prospects and community members.
- Serve as the main contact for VIP ticketing and logistics
- Support event production and logistics, including day-of-show leadership when assigned.
- Identify and report operational inefficiencies and propose solutions.
- Assist events team and other senior leadership with related assignments as needed.

- Proficiency in ticketing systems, Google Workspace, and database management.
- Analytical skills and experience using data to improve operations.

Compensation
- Salary: $45,000/year (exempt)

The Performing Arts Industry
Our organization’s schedule follows the touring industry, with busy seasons in October-December and February-May. This position is subject to some non-traditional work hours, like working events in the evening.
