Posted on October 15, 2025 by Cat Dooley

IOWA CITY, IA  October 16, 2025 – The Englert Theatre announces John Schickedanz has resigned from The Englert to pursue other opportunities. We wish him well in his future endeavors.

With this transition, the Board of Directors has named Keegan Colletta Huckfeldt as our Interim Executive Director. Keegan has served as The Englert’s Events Director for the past three and a half years and has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the arts and arts education throughout his career. In addition to his work at The Englert, Keegan is a co-founder and producer for Footliters Imagination Studio, a program that presents a series of shows tailored in length, style, and content for young audience members. He has contributed to multiple programs at the Coralville Center for the Performing Arts, at Riverside Theatre, and serves as an adjunct professor for the Event Management Certificate at the University of Iowa. Before joining us here, he worked at the Old Creamery Theatre in the Amana Colonies for eight seasons.

As we move forward The Englert is excited to invite the community to attend an open house and historic building tour on Sunday November 2nd led by our new Interim Executive Director and members of our staff. Community members are welcome to explore the rich history of our cherished building for an hour-long tour at either 12pm or 2pm with refreshments,  a chance to meet the Englert team, and an opportunity to ask questions in between.  We hope to see you there.

“The Englert is a gem in our community.  It creates unique events that spark conversation and collaboration, it creates space for local, national, and international artists alike, and it continues, as it has done for over a hundred years, to bring people together,” said Keegan Colletta Huckfeldt, interim Executive Director of The Englert Theatre. “Whether through the Iowa City Songwriters Festival, an incredible show such as the Indigo Girls, or a tradition such as the Nutcracker, this organization continues to make an imprint on our community.  The Englert team’s passion, expertise, and desire to make our community the best it can be continually inspires me.  I am grateful for the opportunity to work with them and lead the Englert forward in its mission.”

We are grateful for all the work Keegan has done since joining us in March of 2022 and look forward to seeing what he and our entire Englert team will accomplish together in the future.
