The Englert Congratulates Whit Martinez On Next Chapter

IOWA CITY, IA Saturday, February 14 — The Englert Congratulates Whit Martinez on an impactful four years of involvement at The Englert Theatre as she steps into her next chapter. Luckily for us, Whit will continue to serve our community just in a new capacity and role outside of our organization.

Whit began working concessions in February of 2022 and quickly got promoted to a House Manager in May of 2022. She then accepted the position of Community Engagement Coordinator in October of 2023 and in November of 2024 accepted additional administrative responsibilities. Her commitment to this organization has been unwavering and through each step her passion for our mission is inspiring and continues to set the tone for the future of our organization.

Whit’s work, from house management to community engagement, has always been rooted in her kindness and care for our community. She has consistently shown up for underrepresented communities with the goal to make our building a safe space. This impact is evident in the programs she leads, Queer Coffee Social and the recent introduction of our Disability Community Social. We have also begun meaningful partnerships through community engagement efforts such as United Action for Youth’s annual Battle of The Bands!

Our partnerships through community engagement have increased immensely and the relationships fostered during her time are irreplaceable. In 2025 Community Engagement efforts Donated 128 tickets (over $5,000) to community members and partnered with over 80 community partners. This is all thanks to Whit’s creativity and intentionality behind every event and connection.

We are all so lucky to have worked alongside Whit for the past four years. We are certain she will succeed in her next steps and continue to show up with care. She brightens up every room she walks into and leaves each space better than how she found it. The Englert is excited to cheer Whit on as she takes on these next steps!
