Job Description
The Senior Marketing Manager will lead the development and execution of strategic marketing initiatives to enhance the visibility and reputation of our nonprofit arts organization. This role will involve overseeing all marketing, communications, and public relations activities, aiming to increase audience engagement, support fundraising efforts, and promote our mission and programs.
To support a successful transition, this position will be hired as a Senior Marketing Manager to allow the individual time to acclimate to the complexities of the role and fully integrate into our culture and ecosystem. Upon successful completion of a formal job advancement process — generally within 1–2 years — this role is eligible for promotion to Marketing Director, with a starting salary of $60,000. Final title and compensation will be commensurate with experience and aligned with the responsibilities of the role.
Schedule
Full-time, exempt position. Primarily weekday business hours, with some evenings/weekends required for events.
Core Responsibilities
- Strategy Development: Develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies to promote the organization’s mission, programs, and events.
- Brand Management: Maintain and enhance the organization’s brand identity across all channels.
- Content Strategy: Oversee the strategy and implementation of marketing materials, including brochures, newsletters, press releases, social media content, blog posts, and website updates.
- Digital Marketing: Oversee digital marketing efforts, including email campaigns, social media, and the organization’s website.
- Public Relations: Cultivate and maintain relationships with media contacts, and manage public relations efforts to secure media coverage.
- Event Promotion: Coordinate marketing and promotional activities for events in an effort to build audience and strategically increase ticket sales.
- Fundraising Support: Collaborate with the development team to design and implement campaigns that drive donations and fundraising efforts including appeals and event-based member acquisition tactics.
- Analytics and Reporting: Track and analyze marketing metrics to measure the effectiveness of campaigns and strategies, providing regular reports to the senior team.
- Budget Management: Develop and manage the marketing budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the marketing team, including staff and volunteers, to achieve organizational goals. This process will consider the needs of the organization while ensuring clear career progression for all team members in their purview.
Ideal Candidate Attributes
- Thoughtful communication skills, both written and oral
- 5+ years experience in brand development, communications and marketing
- 3+ years experience in project management
- 3+ years experience in direct supervision
- Expertise in developing, executing, and monitoring marketing strategy
- Expertise in the Adobe Creative Cloud to produce graphics, publications, and other collateral
- Highly skilled at conceptualizing and designing print and digital materials
- Advanced data interpretation
- Experience with basic website architecture and coding
- Vigilant on email and follow-up
- Preferred experience in arts field, especially concert promotion

The Performing Arts Industry
Our organization’s schedule follows the touring industry, with busy seasons in October-December and February-May. This position is subject to some non-traditional work hours, like working events in the evening.
