Pieta Brown brings the most recent version of her continually shape-shifting band The Taken to The James Theater – and featuring renowned producer and guitar icon, Bo Ramsey. Bo Ramsey will open the night with a rare solo set.

Hailed as a “self-styled poetess, folk goddess, and country waif” by the BBC, Pieta Brown first came to international prominence with the release of her self-titled debut in 2002. Now set to release a new album this fall on Ani DiFranco’s Righteous Babe Records, Pieta will offer new and currently un-released songs along with fan favorites for her show at The James. Her much loved album Paradise Outlaw was also just re-issued digitally on Righteous Babe (December 2024) with a limited edition vinyl which will be available at the show – and Pieta plans to “weave a lot of Paradise Outlaw songs in to the set, too.” While she regularly tours nationally and internationally, it has been a long while since Pieta Brown has played Iowa City, and as she put it, “expect lots of songs — and maybe some special guests!”
