Our theatre offers a curated selection of beer, wine, soda, water, and snacks at events. Check out the menu here for the bar in the main lobby, and the one in the 2nd floor lounge.

The Englert Theatre is located at 221 E Washington Street, in the heart of downtown Iowa City. The main entrance is located on the street level, underneath our iconic marquee. 

Directions

If you are driving in from out of town, the easiest way to find the theatre is to make your way I-80, heading towards Iowa City. Take the Dubuque Street exit 244, and continue south on Dubuque Street until you reach the T-intersection with Washington Street. Turn east (left) on Washington Street, and the theatre is half a block down on the right.

If you are local, The Englert is serviced by Iowa City Transit Buses 1, 2, and 9 at the intersection of Washington & Linn, 100 feet from the main entrance. Fares for Iowa City buses are currently free. Schedules and maps for routes can be found here.

Parking

There are a limited number of parking spots on the street within 500 feet of the main entrance on E Washington and S Linn Street. There are a variety of accessible parking garages with elevators within 0.1 to 0.2 miles, including the Chauncey Ramp (free after 6pm), Tower Place, and Dubuque Street Ramp. Dining

Downtown Iowa City is home to dozens of award-winning restaurants, many of which are only one block (or less) away from The Englert. Check out Iowa City Downtown District’s official dining guide here

Accommodations

Our city has several top-notch hotels located a convenient distance from the theatre, including The Graduate, Hotel Chauncey, and Hyatt Place. Thanks to our season sponsor, The Graduate, Englert ticket buyers can get 20% off their hotel stay in Iowa City by using the promo link in the footer of their ticket receipt. 

Tickets

Our events are solely ticketed through AudienceView (formerly known as Ovationtix). We strongly encourage patrons to only purchase tickets for our events directly through the AudienceView platform, which is linked throughout our website and events calendar.

The Englert is not able to confirm or guarantee the validity of tickets purchased through secondary vendors. Be wary of scams and upcharges on secondary markets! When in doubt, contact our Box Office before making a ticket purchase. 

Note: Some rental events at The Englert are presented by third-party promoters or organizations with other primary ticketing platforms. The Englert is not responsible for any ticketing by rentals outside of AudienceView. Please refer to the presenting party for questions or information.

All tickets are non-refundable and non-exchangeable, unless the event is canceled or rescheduled. If there is any change to your event, you will be contacted directly via email, so make sure to provide updated contact information when purchasing tickets on AudienceView.

Various fees and taxes are applied to your ticket purchase. The Englert is committed to fair ticketing practices and transparency when it comes to ticket fees. For questions regarding your tickets, please reach out to our Box Office at info@englert.org.

Our staff is dedicated to providing you with the best possible experience when you visit The Englert. We ask patrons to adhere to our house rules and policies to ensure that everyone can enjoy the show. Please review our full audience guidelines below before entering the theatre.* 

*By purchasing a ticket from The Englert, you are agreeing to follow all house rules and policies listed, as well as any additional guidelines provided by venue staff during the event. Failure to comply can result in removal from the premises, as well as being prohibited from future events.

We hold free building tours for the public throughout the year (typically once every quarter). Visit our events calendar to see when the next tour is scheduled to RSVP!
