Tickets & Fees
Tickets
Purchasing Tickets
Our events are solely ticketed through AudienceView (formerly known as Ovationtix). We strongly encourage patrons to only purchase tickets for our events directly through the AudienceView platform, which is linked throughout our website and events calendar.
The Englert is not able to confirm or guarantee the validity of tickets purchased through secondary vendors. Be wary of scams and upcharges on secondary markets! When in doubt, contact our Box Office before making a ticket purchase.
Note: Some rental events at The Englert are presented by third-party promoters or organizations with other primary ticketing platforms. The Englert is not responsible for any ticketing by rentals outside of AudienceView. Please refer to the presenting party for questions or information.
Refunds & Exchanges
All ticket sales are non-refundable and non-exchangeable, unless the event is canceled or rescheduled. If there is any change to your event, you will be contacted directly via email, so make sure to provide updated contact information when purchasing tickets on AudienceView.
Patrons are responsible for keeping their contact information updated and accurate with our Box Office. After a period of 60 days from when a cancellation is announced, any tickets that have not been refunded will be converted to a donation to The Englert. Payments made via cash or check will be refunded as an Englert gift certificate. All service fees, convenience fees, credit card fees, and fulfillment fees are not refundable in the event of cancellation. Please allow for up to 8-10 business days for any refunds to be processed.
Fees
Understanding Ticket Fees
There are various fees and taxes that are applied to your ticket purchase on top of the base cost. Most of your base ticket price goes towards covering production costs, artist fees, event staff payroll, and other essential expenses. As a nonprofit, service fees are vital in our operating budget to sustain community engagement efforts and preserve our century-old building. We are committed to fair ticketing practices and transparency when it comes to fees, which you can learn more about from our involvement with NIVA’s Fix the Tix initiative.
Service Fees
Transactions include a 25% convenience fee for each ticket over $20. Tickets under $20 do not incur a convenience fee. This fee enables us to continue investing in the patron experience and our community.
For all events inside our theatre, the convenience fee is inclusive of a $3.00 Historic Venue Fee. The HVF is allocated directly to our Historic Building Maintenance Fund that supports maintenance and upgrade to Iowa City’s last historic theatre. If the event takes place off-site, the HVF is deducted from the 25% convenience fee.
Ex. If you buy 2 tickets at The Englert for $32.00 each, then the final cost of your purchase is $64.00 plus $16.00 (25% convenience fee per ticket) & sales tax.
If you buy 2 tickets at The Englert for $15.00 each, then the final cost of your purchase is $30.00 plus sales tax (no convenience fee for tickets under $20)
If you buy 1 ticket for an Englert show at Gabe’s for $20.00, then the final cost of your purchase is $20.00 plus $2.00 (25% convenience fee minus the HVF since the show is off-site) & sales tax.
