Job Description
Working closely with the Patron Services Manager, front of house, and back of house, you will ensure that every event at The Englert Theatre provides a welcoming, safe, and comfortable experience for patrons and artists, leaving a lasting positive impression.

Anticipated Work Schedule
Hours can fluctuate from 10 – 25 hours per week with an anticipated average of 15 hours/week. The position will most often require work hours that occur in the afternoon, evenings, and/or weekends, with some day time events.

Core Job Duties
Leadership
- Make recommendations regarding event staffing needs.
- Provide feedback for annual reviews for Front of House Staff.
- Directly supervise Front of House Staff when Patron Services Manager is not present.
- Clearly and diplomatically communicate with other departments during events.
Maintenance
- Make recommendations to management to improve processes as identified during daily routine.
- Manage weekly laundry, break room, house manager desk, and kitchen upkeep.
Events
- Oversee all Front of House activities before, during, and after a performance or event.
- Interact with Box Office Staff for audience needs or issues with audience traffic.
- Assist the Patron Services Manager or Point of Contact with artist and event needs including setting up and cleaning up hospitality.
- Oversee that the sidewalk area, lobbies, lounge, theatre, and restrooms are clean and safe for patrons.
- Supervise the ushers, making sure that they understand the seating scheme and can lead patrons to their seats in the quickest possible way, while creating a welcoming environment for patrons, volunteers, and staff alike.
- Conduct a pre-show walk-through of the lobby and seating area to verify that the house is clean and presentable and all signs or notices relevant to a particular show are in place.
- Confirm show time with production and communicate with artist/renter and production about show holds and other changes to schedule during the event.
- Interact with patrons, donors, sponsors, and volunteers during events with a customer service mindset to build strong community engagement.
- Perform money handling duties, including settling concessions sales, for events.
- Complete all necessary paperwork and reports at the end of each event.
- Demonstrate the ability to meet the company standard for excellent attendance.
- Ensure concessions workers are maintaining sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas.
- Maintain working knowledge of venue life safety protocols as outlined in the Emergency Operations Plan as well as what applies directly to front of house operations and is responsible for the safety of the audience and artists in applicable situations.
- Additional duties as assigned by the Patron Services Manager.
Required Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- At least one year experience working in live events, hospitality, or food & beverage
- Ability to manage POS systems and digital project management tools
- Ability to meet emergent deadlines and work autonomously
- Ability to supervise over concessions and security staff
- An interest in live music and performing arts
The Performing Arts Industry
Our organization’s schedule follows the touring industry, with busy seasons in September-December and February-May. This position is subject to non-traditional work hours, like working events in the evening.
