Position: Membership Coordinator

*Please note: Starting July 1, 2024, The Englert will begin a trial 32-hour work week. During the trial, employees will generally work 9-5, Tuesday – Friday as the standard workweek with variations as needed. The trial period will conclude on December 31, 2024, at which time, the staff and board will decide whether to make the change permanent or revert to a 40-hour work week. If the change is not made permanent, the standard workweek will be 9-5, Monday – Friday.

Job Description

The Membership Coordinator manages the administration of fundraising efforts for The Englert Theatre’s membership program. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills, a passion for the arts, and the ability to foster strong relationships with our members and donors while developing creative retention strategies.

Team Engagement

The Membership Coordinator will serve as a key member of our Development team, organizing donor data, managing membership activities and benefits, and growing relationships for Friends of the Englert.

Reports To

Senior Development Manager

Core Job Duties

  • Works with the Senior Development Manager to retain, recapture, and acquire donors
  • Manages individual donor lists and donation software
  • Establishes patron interaction strategies and best practices relating to Englert membership
  • Facilitates growth within the Friends of the Englert membership program
  • Maintains relationships with donors by being the primary point of contact
  • Creates written correspondence for multiple membership campaigns, emails, and letters

Community Engagement

  • Helps to plan development and fundraising initiatives
  • Attends community events, speaking engagements, and tabling to promote organizational goals
  • Leads pre-show curtain talks at Englert Presents events

Membership Administration

  • Administers the donor database using Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge software
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for member inquiries and issues, providing excellent customer service
  • Develops and distributes membership email campaigns, letters, event invitations, and gift acknowledgments
  • Conducts outreach by phone to welcome new members, upsell membership, and renew lapsed memberships
  • Develops and implements creative strategies to retain members and donors

Preferred Qualifications

  • A passion for the Arts
  • An enthusiastic commitment to Customer Relations Management (CRM)
  • Extremely detail-oriented and able to efficiently manage large amounts of information
  • A strong commitment to community engagement
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with a high degree of comfort dealing with the public
  • Exemplary project management
  • Experience working with donor management software (Raiser’s Edge)
  • Experience working with Google Workpace (email, drive, documents, forms)

The Performing Arts Industry

The Englert is part of the performing arts industry, and the schedules of most Englert employees can expect the bulk of their hours to come during touring seasons (October – December and February – May); however, this position is mostly subject to traditional work hours, in order to be available to the public. Some hours are scheduled “as needed” based on the show/event schedule.
