Description
Sarva Sree Foundation (SSF) presents a Carnatic (South Indian) classical music (vocal & instrumental) concert led by a group of young musicians (high schools students) from the organization ‘Indian Raga’ (IR) to spread the knowledge and understanding of this art form. All musicians involved with this project are IR Fellows – a program bringing together the most talented Indian classical musicians in North America, selected by a panel of international judges and experts every year.
This show will promote this rhythmic and lilting form of music within communities and will provide a unique experience and opportunity to the general public and music lovers of Iowa. Iowa Arts Council will co-sponsor this project. The musicians will perform in both traditional and western style using traditional Indian instruments (Mrudangam & Flute) and western instruments (Violin, & Piano) in a Carnatic context.
