LUNAFEST is a traveling film festival, created by LUNA Bar, featuring award-winning short films by, for and about women. This season, the program of eight films – filled with exceptional stories of reflection, hope and humor – will travel to over 175 cities across the nation. Please Note: Films are not formally rated, however, some content is not appropriate for children. We recommend that viewers be age 13+ for this season’s lineup. www.lunafest.org
The Girls on the Run program uses the power of running to help 3rd through 8th grade girls develop self-respect and value a healthy lifestyle. Girls in this after school program focus on their development as a whole person – including physical, emotional, mental, social, and spiritual well-being. Each semester some 500 girls in over 30 schools in Cedar Falls, Cedar Rapids, Center Point, Coralville, Fairfield, Hiawatha, Iowa City, Marion, North Liberty, Solon, Urbana, Washington and Waterloo have the opportunity to become joyful, healthy, and confident because of you. www.girlsontheruniowa.org
Doors open at 5:30 PM and films will begin screening at 7:00 PM. Enjoy free appetizers, desserts, a silent auction, raffle and a cash bar. All of the proceeds from the event stay locally with Girls on the Run.
