Stephanie Catlett is an Iowa City singer-songwriter. Her first full-length album, Caught Under Glass, expands upon the folk, Americana, and indie influences of her debut EP, Meet Me in the Dream. Catlett creates a sound that is comfortable and unassuming, yet her sharp songwriting leaves a lingering impression.
Catlett’s lyrics explore the quiet spaces between separate lives and the sometimes imperceptible cracks that appear when love and faith fall apart. Caught Under Glass contains songs written before and during the pandemic and reflects the way that solitude can both constrict and redefine our lives. Many of the songs explore what we can learn when the world is turned upside down, and what we are compelled to leave behind — a journey of self-reflection colored by loss, regret, and hope.
Suzanne Wedeking is a violinist by training, an octave mandolinist by pastime, and a vocalist at heart. Her wide range of musical genres speaks to her travels across the globe and her love for languages. But deep down she’s still that little girl, sitting on the edge of her bed, belting out the lyrics to Patsy Cline’s “Blue” at the top of her lungs.
