Over forty area youth who were nominated by members of the community for their promotion of and contributions to human rights causes locally or globally will be recognized at the event. Iowa City Mayor Jim Throgmorton will deliver brief remarks at the ceremony.
The event is sponsored by the Iowa City Human Rights Commission and is free to attend.
Students from Regina Senior High, City High, West High, North Central Junior High, Mark Twain Elementary, Penn Elementary, and Liberty High will be recognized at the event. Tresor Shabaniwill receive the Youth Ally Award. For a complete list of recipients, visit the Human Rights website here.
