THE ENGLERT THEATRE ANNOUNCES “HOLLYWOOD LIVE!” EVENT TO BENEFIT LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS
IOWA CITY, IA – The Englert announces its annual fundraiser and screening of the Academy Awards,“HOLLYWOOD LIVE!,” to be held at the Englert on March 2 at 6 p.m. This year marks a new partnership with FilmScene, City Circle Acting Company and The Coralville Center for Performing Arts. All proceeds will benefit the involved organizations; Christopher Okiishi will host the event. Attendees are invited to be photographed on the red carpet and participate in a variety of new contests. Prizes will be awarded for “Best Dressed,” “Best Costumed,” “Best Oscar-Themed Food” and “Guess the Oscar Winners.”
“We are thrilled to have this opportunity to work with our old friends at the Englert and our new friends at FilmScene to help put together one of the year’s most anticipated events,” said Nancy Mayfield, Patron Services Supervisor for the Coralville Center of the Performing Arts. “Art is a collaborative process, and it makes perfect sense for us to join forces in order to raise funds for the arts in our community.”
“HOLLYWOOD LIVE!” is also expanding by offering deluxe seating on the balcony level. For a $50 ticket, attendees can access the Englert’s second floor Douglas and Linda Paul Gallery, where they will have access to champagne, cocktails and deluxe hors d’oeuvres. For a $10 donation, attendees can view the show on the main floor/orchestra level where they can enjoy movie-themed food and a cash bar.
“This event has always been fun, and by inviting our cultural partners to participate and benefit from the event, we expect it to be even more exciting,” said Englert Development Director Katie Roche. “The Englert was a movie house in the late ‘30s, so anytime we get a chance to present a film to the community as an art form, we jump at the opportunity.”
